What to Wear – Summer Child Portraits

Last week I shared an example of what to wear for a family photography session. Today, I thought I’d give a cute example of what to wear for summer child portraits. Below is a wardrobe for a little boy, but this concept would work for a little girl as well. Think white capris pants or a white skirt with a red gingham top with spaghetti straps and some blue sandals along with a similar hat! Voila! Now it’s an outfit perfect for a girl! I love this classic color combination – especially going into the summer months. You really can’t go wrong with red, white and blue! I love that this outfit is classic and modern at the same time. It means that it will stand the test of time and won’t look dated years to come. This outfit would work well in so many different settings too. Country field, manicured garden, city urban location or by a babbling brook. When choosing an outfit for your child, make sure it reflects their personality and is comfortable. If your son or daughter is uncomfortable in what they are wearing, it will affect their mood, which of course will show in their final portraits. The great thing about dressing your child for their individual portraits where they are the star of the show, is you don’t have to worry about coordinating their outfits with anyone else. You can really let your imagination run wild and pick what will work best for the type of images you would like in the finished art. Have fun and let me know if you need help! Always happy to help!
